Where the world comes to study the Bible

  • 10. Striving to Rest (Hebrews 4:11-16)

11 Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. 13 And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must render an account.

    A Precious Word from God

Then Jesus spoke out again, “I am the light of the world. The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

  • 38. Le Squelette dans le Placard de Juda (Genèse 38:1-30)

    Introduction

  • 37. Jacob, Joseph, la Jalousie et un Voyage en Egypte (Genèse 36:1-37:36)

    Introduction

  • 1. Perpetua—A Portrait in Courage

    Abstract

In 202 a.d., Perpetua, a 19-year-old nursing mother, was brutally killed before onlookers in a Roman coliseum for openly practicing Christianity. Her father begged her to renounce her faith and spare her life, but she refused. The account of her martyrdom spread through the Roman Empire and fueled the spread of the early church.

  • Seven Insider Tips for Pioneer Parents

Some of us grew up in stable, Christ-loving homes. Others did not. What happens when people from difficult upbringings want to raise their children in a Christian home? How do we pioneer a new path for our children?

Pioneer Parents are parents who don’t want to duplicate the homes they were raised in. They share many common traits, the most common being fear. They ask themselves questions like:

    A Precious Word from God

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. The one who comes to me will never go hungry, and the one who believes in me will never be thirsty.”

  • When a believer dies and go to heaven will we either know or recognize our loved ones that went to be with the Lord before us?

I don’t think there is any question but what we will know our loved ones (and others) in heaven.  I’ll just mention those instances in Scripture that I can think of that support this conclusion.

    • First of all I think of Saul, speaking to Samuel (from the dead) in 1 Samuel 28:5-19.  Now this is a most puzzling incident, but my point is that Samuel was dead and yet he was recognized as being Samuel.

Recently I received an email from a pastor about which translation is the best in terms of ‘scholarly lineage.’ His church has been using the NIV for years, but they are thinking of switching to the ESV. He wrote:
