Where the world comes to study the Bible

  • 2. Return to God: Part Two (Genesis 13:5-18)

    Introduction

    Development

In continuation from last week’s message on Marriage God’s Way: Recovering from Failure we are going to focus on Principle #3 – Learn from your sins.

    Illustration

    Transition

In that moment that individual learned the principle we are about to learn today.

    Principle #3

On your way back from sin to God you must learn three R’s. There are three words beginning with R that describe our pilgrimage back from sin to God.

  • Laying Aside Every Encumbrance: Discipleship in the Christian Empire

You may notice that things at TBC are a little different today. For one thing Pastor Jeff Miller isn’t with us. Remember that he is in Cambridge England photographing ancient manuscripts. Please be praying for him. In addition, today is different because we won’t be making announcements other than to say … . well I guess those were announcements so some things weren’t that different.

  • 4. Geography Survey Results

My goal for this research is that the conclusions will help believers understand and personally experience the benefits of the historical geography of Israel in a way that will assist their study, application, and communication of the Bible. Rather than reproduce the actual survey in this chapter I have included it in Appendix A. Also I have arranged the results to each of the survey questions by category rather than the order in which the survey asked them.

  • The Indigenous Pilgrim Principle: A Theological Consideration of the Christian, the Church, and Politics

It is common knowledge that in order not to unduly ruffle feathers or chaff relationships the two topics that ought to be avoided at all costs are politics and religion. However, as a Christian, is it really possible to keep these two hot button topics in two completely non-intersecting spheres?

  • 3. Procedure and Research Method

    The Rationale for This Project

Many places in the land of Israel have familiar names to most Christians: the Sea of Galilee, Jerusalem, Jericho, and the Mount of Olives. Yet without an understanding of where each familiar name fits in relation to another, the places can seem like a spilled box of puzzle pieces without the box top for perspective; there is no cohesion.

  • 15. Standing on the Promises (Hebrews 6:13-20)

9 But in your case, dear friends, even though we speak like this, we are convinced of better things relating to salvation. 10 For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love you have demonstrated for his name, in having served and continuing to serve the saints. 11 But we passionately want each of you to demonstrate the same eagerness for the fulfillment of your hope until the end, 12 so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and perseverance inherit the promises.

  • 1. Return to God: Part One (Genesis 13:1-4)

See the Marriage Series Description for more information on this lesson.

    Introduction

    Question

How do we recover from sin?

    Restatement

How do we come back from sin once we’ve refused to trust God, once we’ve taken off on our own, once we’ve exposed our family to the danger and pain that sin brings, once we’ve revealed our true character and been caught in an effort to deceive or misguide others?

  • 14. Who are Those Who Fall Away (Hebrews 6:1-12)

5:11 On this topic we have much to say and it is difficult to explain, since you have become sluggish in hearing. 12 For though you should in fact be teachers by this time, you need someone to teach you the beginning elements of God’s utterances. You have gone back to needing milk, not solid food. 13 For everyone who lives on milk is inexperienced in the message of righteousness, because he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, whose perceptions are trained by practice to discern both good and evil.

  • 2. Previous Research and Literature Review

    America’s Geographical Illiteracy

Marking its one hundredth anniversary in 1988, the National Geographic Society commissioned a Gallup survey to test the geographical knowledge of young adults worldwide. Americans ranked sixth out of the eight countries surveyed, ahead of Italy and Mexico. Twenty-four years later the Society commissioned the survey again. The National Geographic–Roper 2002 Global Geographic Literacy Survey, released in November 2002, surveyed over 3,000 young adults in nine countries, including the United States.

  • 42. L’Usage Correct du Pouvoir (Genèse 42:1-38)
