About:

Robert L. (Bob)Deffinbaugh graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with his Th.M. in 1971. Bob is a pastor/teacher and elder at Community Bible Chapel in Richardson, Texas, and has contributed many of his Bible study series for use by the Foundation.

Bob was born and raised in a Christian home in Washington State, where he was saved in his youth. He attended Seattle Pacific University, where he met and married his wife, Jeannette. After graduating Bob taught sixth grade in a public elementary school in Gig Harbor, Washington. He and his wife Jeannette lost their first child, Timothy, at the age of three and a half months of SIDS. Shortly after this the Lord guided them to a very fine little Bible Church in the country, where they were taught the Word and became actively involved. During the course of their time there Bob was asked to teach on several occasions, and as a result he was encouraged to attend seminary. They left to attend Dallas Theological Seminary in June of 1967, during Israel’s 6 Day War. They were providentially directed to Believers Chapel, where they grew under the gifted teaching of Dr. S. Lewis Johnson and Dr. Bill McRae. He was asked to teach from time to time while he was still a student. Bob graduated in 1971 with a Masters in Theology (majoring in Old Testament/Hebrew). After graduating from seminary Bob was encouraged to stay on at the Chapel, and in a year or so he became one of the two primary teachers. In 1976, with the support and encouragement of the leadership of Believers Chapel, Bob and others started a daughter church called Community Bible Chapel. Bob served at CBC as a Bible teacher/preacher and elder for 37 years.  In past years Bob also served as a national seminar instructor for Prison Fellowship. Bob has traveled and taught in China, India, Africa, and Indonesia. The sermon manuscripts posted on the Biblical Studies Foundation Website (www.bible.org) are messages he has preached at the church.

Bob recently retired from his preaching role at Community Bible Chapel, where he continues to attend and to serve as an elder.  Bob now serves full-time at bible.org where he seeks to produce and acquire top quality biblical materials for the Website, and to encourage others in their study, application, and proclamation of God's Word.
