Where the world comes to study the Bible

  • Distorção das Escrituras: Leia-me Primeiro!

  • TTP - Certificate Student Assignment Descriptions

    1. Viewing classes: Certificate Students are required to view all ten sessions of the course during the ten week semester. Once the class begins, it is preferred that you view one per week so as not to get to far ahead or too far behind of the rest of the class.  During the Winter or Summer semesters, students are to view two courses per week to stay on track.

  • AD or CE?

The older terminology for dividing time was AD and BC, the one meaning anno domini (in the year of our Lord) and the other meaning “before Christ.” All time in the western world has been looked at through this lens. It is a distinctively Christian view of things. In the last few years, some Christian scholars (and several non-Christian writers) have begun to use CE and BCE, which refer to the “Common Era” and “Before the Common Era” respectively. Such a perspective is not necessarily hostile to the Christian faith.

  • Epilogue

Our trial is not over. But as I conclude this book, let me share with you the precious lesson Elsie and I have learned as God has been comforting us. Look again with me at 2 Corinthians 1:4: Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. The comfort of God in our trial has been a part of His training program for us.

  • 9. That Strange Love of God

God has various ways of getting our attention in order to show how much He loves us. His dealings with us are based on perfect principles. It may surprise you to discover what wonderful things God will do for us and through us when we allow Him to work unhindered in our lives. His principle of discipline is never pleasant, but it leads to purity and peace.

Many Christians, including preachers, songwriters, poets, and others, have as their favorite subject the love of God. I doubt if some of them know the meaning of the word love.

  • 8. The God of All Comfort

The believer in Christ is expected to get to know God better as he walks the pilgrim pathway. But there are things that he can learn only through suffering. One of those things is that He is the God of all comfort.

I had known throughout my ministry, of course, that God comforts His own. I had taught about the ministry of the Holy Spirit, our paraclete, who was sent by Christ to help us.

  • 7. A Soft Pillow for Troubled Hearts and Suffering Bodies

Truth explained is a far cry from truth experienced. The following chapter is from a message I prepared some time ago for the blessing and benefit of others.

Romans 8:28 was one of many verses Elsie and l claimed after her stroke, and we have repeated it often. When I was preparing this message, I did not have the slightest idea that God was going to use it in my own life. But our heavenly Father knew what lay ahead for me. Now I know much more about the real meaning of this text.
