The Book of Samuel (part thirty-eight)

We conclude our study of the Book of Samuel by witnessing King David again behaving like the tragic hero we have come to love. David remains a flawed man after God’s own heart. We have learned much from David’s life—both from his faithfulness and from his flaws. Today he will teach us lessons about trusting God. David’s trust in God’s protection lapsed, and his sin in auditing the strength of his military cost Israel thousands of lives. But David rebounded, rediscovering his trust in the living and merciful God.
