27. The Kindness of David (2 Samuel 9)Related Media
The Book of Samuel (part twenty-seven)
God has taken David from being a shepherd over sheep in a pasture to ruling as the king over Israel from a palace in Jerusalem. He has united Israel under David’s leadership and given him victory over his many enemies. Moreover, God promised David an everlasting kingdom that would one day be ruled by the Messiah Himself. David is overwhelmed by God’s goodness to him. After returning thanks to God, David hastens to find someone that he can overwhelm with generosity. By showing kindness to Mephibosheth, David imitates God by keeping his promise to Jonathan, by seeking the well-being of others, and by lifting up the lowly. Has God’s goodness in your life driven you to show kindness to others in the same way?
