The Book of Hebrews contains a series of five warning passages. These pastoral admonitions reflect the author’s strong desire to persuade his readers to continue following Jesus. In Hebrews chapter two, we encounter the first of these warnings. Here, the reader is cautioned that drifting away from the Lord will have severe consequences. Instead, we should focus on our relationship with God and finish the journey that we started with Him. Although the meaning of these passages has been the subject of much debate, the application is very clear: Break out of your apathy, indifference, or spiritual regression and passionately pursue Christ Jesus.
