Add to My Library One of the principle roles the Spirit plays in a believer’s life is to assuage the natural inclinations of our hearts and prevent us from behaving the way we naturally want to behave. The actions spawned by our flesh contrast starkly with the actions produced by the Holy Spirit. Our job is to strive to walk and live by the Spirit (our active responsibility) while at the same time permitting the Spirit to lead us (our passive responsibility). When we do these things well, we experience the rewarding fruit of the Spirit. This fruit distinguishes us from the unbelieving world all around us. We are different. We are peculiar. We are changed.
