Jesus' final public miracle recorded in John’s Gospel is his most impressive one yet. The water to wine, the official’s sick son, the lame man by the pool, the feeding of the 5,000, the walking on water, and the healing of the blind man are all impressive miracles in their own right. But this final miracle takes place when it is too late. When hope has given way to hopelessness. When all resources have been exhausted and the opportunity for a last-minute miracle has past. Or so it seemed. Jesus learns that his dear friend is terminally sick. It would have been a miracle if Jesus had arrived to save his friend, but he chose not to come to his bedside quickly. By the time Jesus arrived, it was too late. His friend had died and was buried and the mourners were in full swing. But is it ever too late for God?
