Who is My Neighbor? (part six)

Printer-friendly versionSend to friend

Luke 10:25-37

The first and second greatest commandments can be summarized as "Love God and Love People." Jesus discussed these thoughts with an expert in the Law who wanted to test Jesus and perhaps embarrass Him. With regard to the so-called "neighbor" that I’m supposed to love as myself, the expert wondered, who constitutes my neighbor. Assuming there were people who would be classified as “non-neighbors,” the expert was asking Jesus to outline his minimum obligations. Instead of answering his question, Jesus told a famous parable that describes what a good neighbor looks like. Don’t worry about whom to love or not love; become a loving person who loves indiscriminately. That will take care of the second greatest commandment.
