Who Do You Live To Please? (Parable of the Two Sons)

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Abstract

Which is better: To commit to accomplish a task ahead of time and fail to do so in the end? Or to refuse to accomplish a task ahead of time and later decide to do it anyway? In the Parable of the Two Sons, Jesus encourages obedience over good intentions. Motivated by gratefulness for God’s grace in our lives, we want to please the Father by living lives of obedience. We want to remain faithful to Him by the power of the Holy Spirit. Already enjoying the security of our salvation, we covet the daily pleasure of God in our attitudes and actions.
