Abstract
Habakkuk was a unique prophet. He functioned more as a prophet to God on behalf of the people rather than serving the traditional role of speaking to the people on behalf of God. Israel was experiencing some desperate national circumstances—some self-imposed, others not—and Habakkuk felt these national pains in a very personal way. He wanted answers from God. More than that, he wanted God’s assurance that everything was going to work out. His honesty with God provides a good model for us to follow. But in the end it is his relentless faith in God regardless of circumstances that we can learn from—especially during times of national uncertainty like the present.
