Abstract
The entire book of Habakkuk drives us to this final passage. Indeed, the value and purpose of the book largely rest in these last few verses. Here we find Habakkuk able to weather an unimaginable economic crisis because his trust was in the Lord God alone. How powerful is Habakkuk’s expression of trust in God, especially when we compare it to the beginning of the book where we found Habakkuk complaining. For many of us, it is only when we’ve been stripped of every competing comfort that we truly experience the comfort of the Lord. What “illusions of stability” in your life compete with God as your Provider of stability? Are you seeking safety and comfort in sources other than God? What measures must God take to get your attention and convince you to reestablish Him as your sole object of trust?
