The casual reader of the Bible may find the descriptions of God in terms of human bodily parts to be confusing. For Jesus told the Samaritan woman that, “God is spirit, and the people who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:24).¹ Our study seeks to acquaint our readers with some of the imagery relative to God. We hope that in meditating upon these figures each reader will come to some understanding of why God chose to reveal himself in such a manner. In so doing, we trust that this study will give each one a renewed and deepened appreciation of just who God is and what he desires each of us to become. Only to God be the glory!
