Abstract

The arrival of the Messiah on the human scene was not unexpected, even though we don’t see many living expectantly when we read the Gospels. Hundreds of Old Testament prophecies could be cited that were clearly fulfilled by Jesus Christ. But with prophecy, we often don’t know what it means until we know what it meant. Many of these predictions pertained specifically to the circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth, and that is our focus in today’s message. A careful reading of the Old Testament, written hundreds of years before the birth of Christ, shows us where He will be born, when He will be born, how He will be born, and who, specifically, He will be. And with surprising accuracy, too!
