Abstract

Jesus was human and Jesus suffered. He was an appropriate sacrifice because He was fully human; He was a perfect sacrifice because He was Himself God; He was a victorious sacrifice because He arose. In Jesus, God suffered and died as a human—and He did so willingly and wantingly. This, among other things, makes Christianity superior to any other so-called offer of salvation. Still today, Jesus serves as our high priest who is merciful because of His human suffering and temptation. Our journey has been mapped by Jesus our Pioneer, and He even helps us navigate the difficult terrain along the way.
