Abstract

We are perfected and made holy by the blood of Jesus, but often we continue to approach sin with apathy, complacency and indifference. When it comes to our personal holiness, the Holy Spirit is doing His job; are we doing ours? We mustn’t treat this issue lightly—we must do battle for our own holiness. Jesus’ obedience at the cross led to our positional holiness; our obedience now leads to our personal holiness. Do we continue to put ourselves in compromising situations? Do we value convenience over holiness? Instead of asking “How much can I get away with?” we should be asking “How holy do I want to be?” As John Piper asks, “Does your faith make you eager to forsake sin and make progress in holiness?”
