A More Desirable Freedom (Hebrews 9:15-28)

Abstract

Certainly the death of Jesus on the cross offers Christians freedom from sin; but it also offers us freedom from additional sacrifices. Christ’s one blood sacrifice was the sufficient payment for our sins. That means that further sacrifices are unnecessary. Any additional attempt to pay for our sins ourselves demonstrates either a lack of faith or bad theology. How awkward for a Christian to continue to make sacrifices for their sins at the temple when Jesus’ sacrifice was sufficient. How awkward for us to continue to make payments on a debt that’s been paid in full! In what ways do you continue to punish or deprive yourself for your sins?
