Isaac and Rebekah (Genesis 24 – 26)

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Isaac’s story is so interwoven with his father Abraham and his son Jacob that it’s difficult to get a clear picture of who he was. Like Abraham his father and Jacob his son, Isaac married a barren woman who was later able to conceive. Often the story of Genesis involves barriers that must be overcome to accomplish the Abrahamic Covenant. Remember that the Abrahamic covenant is ultimately a family covenant—the record of husbands, wives, children, and siblings. In contrast to Abraham his father and Jacob his son, Isaac had only one wife, Rebekah, whom he dearly loved. Isaac’s story can be learned by reading about his relationship with her.
