The Glorious Beginning: God’s Covenant with Abraham (Genesis 12-21)

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

This week we look at Abraham as we transition from the four major events in Genesis to its four major people. Abraham’s story consumes more than thirteen chapters of Genesis. We witness God’s unconditional covenant with Abraham to provide land and countless descendents, and we watch Abraham struggle to understand how God is going to come through on those promises. Abraham remained faithful—full of faith—even though he stumbled from time to time. More importantly, God proved faithful to Abraham, providing a promised child born to Abraham and Sarah. But it took a really, really long time to see the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham.
