The Glorious Beginning: Creation (Genesis 1:1 – 2:3)

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Today we begin our sprint through the Book of Genesis with a series entitled “The Glorious Beginning.” For the next ten weeks we’ll consider life lessons from four key events and four key people in the book. We start “in the beginning” with creation. Consider the majesty and power of a God who can but speak and galaxies spring into existence. In a flash reality changes from God alone to include God plus everything else we see. His crowning creation, Genesis tells us, is people whom He engineered “in His image.” Genesis tells us that humans—and therefore the earth—are more special to God than anything else He created. God has plans to bless humans on the earth, and today we are the privileged recipients (and vehicles) of those blessings.
