The Church as Comfort

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

Abstract

Through their prayers, words, physical touch, and even mere presence, Christians can be used by God to comfort others who find themselves in the middle of life’s storms. What a privilege to serve as God’s instruments to comfort those paralyzed by suffering. Granted, God normally selects those who have been trained in the “school of hard knocks” as His preferred agents of comfort. Who could you turn to if a crisis erupted in your life today? Are you a part of a trusted community of believers? Are you willing to risk in order to find healing and comfort? If you’ve accumulated an impressive resume of suffering yourself, are you willing to allow God to use your experience to comfort others?
