What do you think about “prophetic intercession”?

Printer-friendly versionSend by email

I would confess that my background was pretty anti-charismatic, and over the years I have lightened up a good bit, but the things you have described are the very things that distress me greatly. First, there is a movement today regarding prophecy that is most disturbing. Some respected scholars (like Wayne Grudem, Vern Poythress) are saying that “prophecy” exists today, and that this “prophecy” is not the same as prophecy in the Bible, Old Testament or New, but is “like” it. This new “prophecy” is a “fallible impression from God,” which may or may not be true, and may or may not be correctly interpreted or proclaimed. The bottom line is that the very thing for which one should have been rejected as a false prophet and put to death (Deuteronomy 13, 18), is now what we expect and embrace as “prophecy” today. That’s really frightening to me.
