• Project description: For every language with a million or more speakers (others added on a case by case basis):
  1. Locate a trustworthy Bible in each language (one which accurately reflects the original languages) add to it the Net Bible notes. If no trustworthy translation exists consider a separate translation project using the NET Bible as a base.(Begin with the New Testament)
  2. Add to the Bible at least Two studies, ABC's for Christian Growth and How to study the Bible,. (For those countries with a low literacy rate studies will have to contain large amount of pictures.)The gospel message will be in both text(story and pictures) and audio files.After translation, material is posted on line for free use and download. Print and CD versions made available as demand requires.

• Background, Need and Projected Benefit: to the community of users
  1. Background: Consistent with our vision to To be the Internet's most effective ministry by freely giving the NET Bible and other trustworthy biblical teaching and training resources to the world community, to equip and empower Christians to grow and mature in their walk with God and faith in Christ so that they will then teach and train others. a project is proposed to encourage Christians who know English and another language to transcribe The NET Bible notes,a Gospel tract and study aids into that other language. According to the US Library of Congress and ethnologue there are over 6,800 languages in the world group into 108 language groups . This project will harness the internet to find people who are willing to translate material into one of the 6800 languages. Once material is translated BSF will host it on bible.org and made it available for free to millions of internet users.
     The basic idea behind this project is that every Christian, in obedience to God's commands, should be willing to undertake efforts that will use their knowledge of languages to share God's word with people who who do not understand English. In this way the translators are able to multiply their impact on a world that can only read or understand God's word in their own language.
  2. Need:There are no bible translations available that contain the transcribers footnotes that assist readers to better understand the original writers of the bible. These are only available in the NET Bible. While there are several sites with access to bibles or tracts in different languages, most are not freely available for users to download, print and give away for free. e.g. Ethnic Harvest, Global Recordings. For those languages that do have a good reliable bible it might make sense to attempt to work with the owners of the copyright in an attempt to add the transcribers notes to those scriptures and make that version available for free use across the internet.
  3. Benefit: The benefit is tremendous as people around the world are able to read the bible in their native tongue and better understand it. We will see people come to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow into being able to share and teach others about Christ. Also the translators will obtain
  4. Approach:The approach will be to create a list of all the languages in the world and include the number of speakers for that language and then solicit volunteers or partners to translate the net bible notes, a gospel tract audio and text, and then some critical studies which will help people grow in Christian maturity. This effort will also produce Church planting tools so people around the world can successfully plant new churches. This effort will should appeal to retired professional transcribers and christians would would like to help there culture. It will likely engage 1000's of Christians world wide. Therefore we need to put in place a update control and project tracking mechanism that is automated and can service 1000s of users. In addition to volunteers solicited from the web we need to develop an approach for publishing paper and CD's in local languages in each country for profit or for charity. We need to establish quality review teams for each language and to see if the biblical context was accurately translated. Perhaps we could contact every Seminary in country to join the team and assist in the project
• Estimate of the resources required to begin and the time to complete: To begin we need at a minimum:
  1. Project Manager and coordinator: this person needs to organize the project,select and rank the studies and select reliable translations to append the NET Bible notes, Select the NET Bible notes to translate first, list all the critical skills and obtain all the tools needed to support the volunteer transcribers (both textual, graphics and audio).
  2. Linguists coordinator: This person needs to set up the linguistics program or find a partner to take the lead to set up the reviews needed to obtain the highest quality of product to publish
  3. Some minimum number or volunteer transcribers (perhaps 5?)
  4. Before beginning the publishing of the translations on paper the team will need locate some sponsors for up-front capital and they must develop a business plan on how to make the publishing side self supporting and/or sustainable through donations.

• Indicate any meaningful or natural development phases of the project This project is by its nature is easily divided into deliverables or phases. each study, chapter or language can be considered a phase so that tracking and accountability is easy to monitor and access. It should also make it easy to generate funding estimates so a donor can donate a chapter. book or a complete study for language XYZ.
