hi there...

The Bible says, Do you not know that you do not own yourself, but that you were bought at a price. That price is the crucifixion of Christ. Our bodies are viewed as a temple of Christ. This is also why other things are wrong, such as fornication, adultery, obesity, bulemia, alcoholism, smoking, and more; they all harm our bodies. Tattoos do not always harm a person's body, but they have been tied to some contractions of HIV and other diseases, a person can get ink poisoning from them, and over the years, they just look plain old ugly....

Publishing with a “secular” company did, however, prove more complicated than we had anticipated. We soon found ourselves in an ongoing debate with our editors about the proper tone to take towards Christian belief. As Christians ourselves, we ground everything we do and write in our commitment to our faith; our beliefs and practice are shaped by the historic creeds of the orthodox Christian church, particularly the Nicene and Apostles’ Creeds, which we return to in our worship time and time again; our commitment to our local church, in which we see Christ’s Great Commission acted out through hospitality, through worship and through the celebration of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, is central to our lives. Yet Norton, with its eye on the “wider reading public,” was concerned that the book not exclude parents who do not identify with our Protestant beliefs. Our chapters on the place of religion in history were edited, and edited again. At one point, an editor even suggested that we not recommend any curricula from religious publishers, in order to maintain “neutrality” on the subject of religion.

I just ran across these pictures
this 19 story cross located on Interstate 40 at Groom, Texas. Construction of the cross frame was done in two shops in Pampa, Texas by more than 100 welders and erected in July of 1995. Truly, all things are possible for those who believe. Click for the Big Picture..

Amen Pastor,

I saw a reader board the other day say something like - "The longer you are away the happier a dog is to see you"

When we wait for something to happen in its time it becomes that much more exciting when it comes to fruition. Its no different with Marital sex vs. pre marital sex. When you wait for it, it is Good, as it was intended to be.

If you buy a big screen TV on credit, the bill in the mail is cumbersome, but if you save up for it, the new TV is a fun thing to watch movies on without any cloud of still having to pay for it.

The thing is, if you have sex before mariage, YOU carry that bill, not the postoffice. (you wont forget about it, like the bill that stopped coming cause you paid that debt)

Restraint is worth it!!!

Grace and Peace

And just do not do it.

Now I did things that I should not have done, but I did not have sex, drink, or smoke - because I had promised God (and my Mom.)

My wife and I agree that we wanted to wait for our wedding night and we did. (I was 27 - ouch!) I am glad. If you have crossed the line, Repent and do not do so again.

It is not complicated - you kiss her or you do not - you put your hand in this or that place or you do not. You always choose what to do. I did not always choose correctly, but I finally did so.

Perhaps you should talk to the family and minister about moving the date up. It would be better to have a smaller wedding than to do the wrong thing.

BTW, Sex is magnificent in the place God intended it to be.

Dead Sea Scrolls are the REAL Gospel of Jesus Christ

ACCURACY CONFIRMED BY DEAD SEA SCROLLS
Searches in the area of the Dead Sea have turned up numerous Hebrew scrolls written before the beginning of the Common Era. Many of these contain parts of the Hebrew Scriptures. How do they compare with Masoretic manuscripts produced some one thousand or more years later?
In one study, the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah was examined both in a Dead Sea Scroll of Isaiah, copied about 100 B.C.E., and in the Masoretic text. Norman L. Geisler and William E. Nix give the results of this study in A General Introduction to the Bible:
“Of the 166 words in Isaiah 53, there are only seventeen letters in question. Ten of these letters are simply a matter of spelling, which does not affect the sense. Four more letters are minor stylistic changes, such as conjunctions. The remaining three letters comprise the word ‘light,’ which is added in verse 11, and does not affect the meaning greatly. . . . Thus, in one chapter of 166 words, there is only one word (three letters) in question after a thousand years of transmission—and this word does not significantly change the meaning of the passage.”
Another publication notes that this scroll and an additional copy of parts of Isaiah found near the Dead Sea “proved to be word for word identical with our standard Hebrew Bible in more than 95% of the text. The 5% of variation consisted chiefly of obvious slips of the pen and variations in spelling.”
When reading the Hebrew Scriptures, therefore, you can be confident that your Bible is based upon a Hebrew text that accurately conveys the thoughts of God’s inspired penmen. (2 Tim. 3:16) Thousands of years of painstaking professional copying has assured what God long ago foretold: “The green grass has dried up, the blossom has withered; but as for the word of our God, it will last to time indefinite.”—Isa. 40:8.

Just a week ago you were given this advice here (viewtopic.php?f=45&t=12543&p=124519#p124519) and so within that time you've followed it and are already tempted to the point of accusing God?

I don't think you should toss your boundaries but I do think you should look at what those boudaries are. The things I suggetsted to you were if you continued to date and were alone together. Gideon's suggestion of not being alone together is another alternative.

Temptations will continue no matter your decision. They will change quite a bit but still continue after you both marry. Staying strong in tough times begins with trusting God and enduring the temptation without conceding to it. Christianity is an endurance race (marathon) and not a sprint. In a marathon the runner has to run through the objections of his body to the place where his whole being is under submission to the goal (See Hebrews 12:1-11). I ask you, if you give in to those "raging hormones" now because the "law" is so discouraging, what happens when your hormones are "raging" again and the pretty little office assistant is flirting with you? Shall the discouraging "law" be just as easily cast aside then? What you choose to do now will have lasting effects on your relationship and your choices in the future.

Blessings,
Randy

God doesn't set us up for failure, Eagle. We set ourselves up.
But God is faithful.
I'm not sure why you have such a long list of boundaries. I would suggest two very simple things. First, never be alone together. Second, both of you make yourselves accountable to someone else of the same gender whom you respect. Invite those individuals (separately) to ask you very direct questions about your relationship with your fiancé (and hers with you) which you must promise to answer honestly. Then regularly meet with them face to face for the purpose of accountability. And give the two people to whom you make yourselves accountable permission to compare notes with each other. That's to help keep you honest. A good person for you to make yourself accountable to might be your fiancé's father, if that's possible.

My fiance and I are going to be married in about six months, but the wait is killing us! We have been with eachother for a year and engaged for about six months. We have no regrets! To try and eliminate the temptation she and I sat down and created a physical boundries list, anything that makes us feel guilty before God we are not apart of...this means our list is fairly lengthy! I know God wants the best for us but somehow I feel that our boundries are like the Law...no matter how hard we will try, something on the List will be broken usually a small thing. If there is no hope in keeping the Law, is there any hope in setting our standards the way God wants them set. His expectations are almost impossible for me and my future wife to keep all the time. I'm not talking about compromising to the point of sex but just little things like keeping our hands to ourselves. Please help! I honestly believe right now after looking at all the things that make us feel guilty, before God, that this list is impossible to follow. In some way like God is setting us up for failure. What should I do guys...God calls me to be the spiritual leader and I don't measure up. Is God setting me up for failure when anything my fiance and I do, we feel, goes against God's standards for us? What should my approach be? How do I stay strong in the tough times? Please give me as much advice as you can, I'm about ready to toss this whole standards thing aside and go against God's standards because God requires way to much.

Personally, I detest horror movies. I just can't find anything edifying about them. Some, of course, are just so absurd that they're comical. But IMO real horror movies glorify the forces of darkness, so I don't watch them. Not having seen this film, I cannot speak to any specifics in it, but I doubt that any Hollywood horror film is a reliable source for doctrine. If it's just the movie that you want to discuss, I can move this topic to the Cyber Cafe.

Question about the Pastors role in the Church

I am a tad late jumping into this, but wanted to pass along some insight as well.

A Pastors role in the Church should always be to encourage the body.
A Pastor is not any better or any more prepared to be a follower of Christ then anyone
else in the body. They only know what to do based on what tools God has provided them.
The more separated from Christ they are the smaller the tool box.
Having a Master / Doctorate in theology does not make a good pastor.
Understanding that Christ is working through them always is what makes a great pastor.

As a Pastor myself, I feel I am often comatose and disconnected from my life as a Pastor.
He continues to work through me, but wow I am far from worthy to be doing such work.
At times to be honest I feel I suck at being a Pastor. But then I pray about myself being lost and WHAM !!! he kicks my butt back into the path, for the hundredth, thousandth time.
But he is relentless and I am so lucky he never gives up on me.

The bottom line is the fire breathes in the Pastor only when the Pastor breathes the word of the Lord. If a Pastor is disconnected there can be much more going on then is seen.
Its normal and sad at the same time. The best I can say as a Pastor that is often struggling is to be honest with ones self. If you struggle in your pastoral duties ask him for help, and be open to listening as we know the answer can be far removed from what we are expecting.

Praise God

It would seem plausible if a dead man in hell could recognize Abraham and Lazarus across the great chasm then you will quite plausibly be able to recognize your friends and loved ones.

Net Bible. Lulke 16:22 “Now 67 the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. 68 The 69 rich man also died and was buried. 70 16:23 And in hell, 71 as he was in torment, 72 he looked up 73 and saw Abraham far off with Lazarus at his side. 74 16:24 So 75 he called out, 76 ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus 77 to dip the tip of his finger 78 in water and cool my tongue, because I am in anguish 79 in this fire.’ 80 16:25 But Abraham said, ‘Child, 81 remember that in your lifetime you received your good things and Lazarus likewise bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in anguish. 82 16:26 Besides all this, 83 a great chasm 84 has been fixed between us, 85 so that those who want to cross over from here to you cannot do so, and no one can cross from there to us.’ 16:27 So 86 the rich man 87 said, ‘Then I beg you, father – send Lazarus 88 to my father’s house 16:28 (for I have five brothers) to warn 89 them so that they don’t come 90 into this place of torment.’ 16:29 But Abraham said, 91 ‘They have Moses and the prophets; they must respond to 92 them.’ 16:30 Then 93 the rich man 94 said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone from the dead 95 goes to them, they will repent.’ 16:31 He 96 replied to him, ‘If they do not respond to 97 Moses and the prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.’” 98
