In the Spirit vs. In the Flesh

We are all flesh. Paul makes a contrast berween those who are merely flesh and those which are both flesh and Spirit. The "flesh" in Paul's Epistles is the human being with out God.
We must be careful not to equate all natural behavior with sin. God commands us to eat, therefore it is not sinful to want a peanut butter sandwich or even a peanut butter cookie.
The Bible speaks of three causes of sin - the World, the Flesh, and the Devil. There are a number of important passages concerning this issue. Romans 12:1-2 is very helpful to me, because it is much easier not to do wrong things if you no longer to do those wrong things,

In the Spirit vs. In the Flesh

The spirit represents the new nature received after we surrender our heart unto Jesus.
This new life makes us to behave in a new way. The Spirit becomes our guide in everything.
It will be difficult to do anything outside the Spirit because He controls our lives.
The bible lay emphasis on it by saying those that are led by spirit are called the sons of God!
However, in the flesh is the direct opposite of the Spirit. The flesh is the adamic nature
that every human being inherited from Adam. This is the same flesh that made Cain to
killed his brother. Let us see the book of Galatians 5:16 Walk in the spirit...
If you move further to Gal 5:19-21. Here are the part of the work of the FLESH:
1.Adultery
2.Fornication
3.Uncleanness
4.Lasciviousness
5. Idolatry
6.Witchcraft
7.etc...
You can read the rest in the scripture.
So when ever you see two people abusing each other it is the FLESH at work.
When there is no peace between a husband and his wife that is FLESH at work.
When you see two couple giving each other divorce letter that is FLESH working.
FLESH will make a man to have sexual intercourse before marriage.
FLESH is the cause of masturbation!
FLESH source of all evil you are seeing in the world today.
FLESH will make you to lie and call it diplomacy.
FLESH will make to steal money in your office.
In fact, FLESH is so terrible that, if you are not delivered from his
grips to make heave become issue.

Very well put!
I would also like to add that it was not evil for David to have expensive things - and we must neither glorify wealth or poverty. And in America we must not glorify the middle class either.
We must not be judgmental, but rather we must be obedient to the Lord with our brothers - whether those brothers be rich, poor, or somewhere in between.

As far as intersex people they are usually male based on genetic classification. As you know men are genetically XY and Women are XX. The SRY gene on the Y chromosome on men is responsible for the formation of male genitalia, and the secondary male traits. If that gene is damaged then the one active X chromosome will cause the body to develop female characteristics (keep in mind that women are traditionally XX). An XY "female" whose Y chromosome is completely nonfunctioning is basically X0, or a condition called turner's syndrome. Meaning they may appear female but they aren't fertile (and may not grow to an average height). Most of the time even though the SRY gene is damaged it doesn't mean it will cease completely from functioning, most XY "females" usually still develop male genitalia (that is functional). If they were to be converted to being male at van early age they could live as virtually normal men. But a lot of them "feel" like they are female due to them being raised as such or an advanced form of gender dysphoria.
Hope that makes sense
In anycase I've heard that when Jesus spoke about the eunichs being blessed, he could have been referring to people like these.

but isn't that a less than optimal attitude? -- a fortress mentality? -- but i may misunderstand your post
we are Called to witness & be a light to the world so what others do shouldn't necessarily motivate us since we already know the harvest is ripe...
btw -- welcome!
I personally see it as us "getting our own house together" before we witness to others.

We had a "clever" atheist write to the paper - they really are VERY articulate down here in our nation's capital - and he was delighting in what he described as the "tide has gone out" status of Christianity in our culture.
I was reminded of the recent tsunami's when tides going out heralded tremendous waves coming back soon ... and remembered what a missionary had shared about church growth ... and wondered if our tide going out merely heralds the tsunami gathering in China.
The Anglican Church, which used to be referred to as the Church of England, for some time now has had more African members than those of European descent.
Every nation and people will be there for eternity to praise our God forever - maybe there are enough Caucasians gathered in and it is time for the focus to shift elsewhere. Whatever, God is in control and sovereign over it all.

While I think solitude is a very valuable spiritual aid, and one that is much neglected in our western culture, it is not a spiritual "cure-all". As the early desert fathers and mothers found, our own minds can supply enough evil to make battles as fierce in solitude as they are for the rest of us.
What solitude does do is to take away some of the "buffers" we use to hide things from ourselves ... so evil has less places to hide.
There is only one cure for our innate selfishness and self-centeredness .... and that is to learn to focus more and more on Christ, to immerse ourselves in God .... until at last, in the power of the Holy Spirit we begin to "think God's thoughts after Him" .... to see things as Christ sees them, and in the Spirit, to love as Christ loves.
This is to be conformed into the image of Christ .... and when this happens, then (and only then) we will no longer want to sin.

What I think we are seeing in the West is a sifting .... the real from those who are not committed.
When it comes down to a matter of life and death, then only the real Christians will remain standing.
But Christ is coming!

Hi, I'm new
I heard some where that the United States (and perhaps western society in general) are starting to identify themselves as Christians less and less. I personally see this as a good thing because it could be a good unifying process for us Christians that will remain.

hi there...
The Bible says, Do you not know that you do not own yourself, but that you were bought at a price. That price is the crucifixion of Christ. Our bodies are viewed as a temple of Christ. This is also why other things are wrong, such as fornication, adultery, obesity, bulemia, alcoholism, smoking, and more; they all harm our bodies. Tattoos do not always harm a person's body, but they have been tied to some contractions of HIV and other diseases, a person can get ink poisoning from them, and over the years, they just look plain old ugly....
That is your opinion that they "Look plain ugly" obviously some people do not think that way if everybody did they wouldn;t get tattos. Look I have no tattoos but I do not condemn those that do. Christ accepts all. You could say by your argument that walking outside or shaking hands is a sin also because there's a "possibility" that you could get a virus and therefore harm your body.

hi there...
I believe living in the flesh is satisfying human desires that are not god like. Living in the spirit is living your life on gods path, in a way that he would be proud. I don't believe anyone can possibly do this all the time, even the best christian can faulter at times. It could be something as simple as wanting to buy a expensive shirt and doing it. Only monks and people who live their lives in solitude can actually come close to living in the spirit all of the time.
